Über die Schrift
The Cross Stitch font is a digital remake of old embroidery templates from the 19th century.
Just another proof that pixel art was born way before the digital age, and most of the contemporary design is a nostalgic retrospective, after all.
The original pattern presenting the basic alphabet was respected as much as possible, and in extension, where no model was available, the same logic of construction is followed. To highlight the decorative effect of the handcraft, the complementary letters (lower cases and marks) are designed with the most basic and usual lines used in bitmap fonts, also to create a strong analogy between two different techniques, very similar in results.
The Initials have a larger line height, to fit the letters, obviously, but this is presumably used along with the Regular version.
