About

Jorvik Informal is based on a 1966 design by Typographer Georg Salden. While Salden made up to 40 font families and sells them on his web site typemanufactur.com, his York typeface was never published in digital form (as yet, April 2013), except for this 'quick and dirty' version made by fontgrube (Andreas Höfeld, Germany) in 2000, when he was still unaware of the original designer, Salden.
He named it 'Jorvik Informal" after the old Viking name of York in North England.
